I live in the North East with my two trusty hounds, Monty and Tula

My story….

My 30 year career as a practitioner psychologist has bought me as many compliments about my voice as it has about my skills as a psychologist.

“I could listen to you all day” when training or facilitating or “your voice makes me feel so calm” when coaching. When I worked in a high security prison I even won the dubious title of “sexiest voice in the prison”, a competition I didn’t know I had entered, and didn’t want to know what criteria I had been judged against…or by whom.

As a child our house was full of storytelling, poetry and music. My Mum had a particularly beautiful voice and love of language that I have inherited. In my turn I read to my son, and any other children who dared to gather around the fire to hear ghost stories.

So when I saw a voiceover workshop my curiosity was piqued and with the support of my friends, family and the superb voiceover coach, Jude Vause-Walsh my parallel career began.

Doing voiceovers compliments my practice as a coaching psychologist and organisational development practitioner which requires me to listen deeply to other people’s stories; noticing themes, emotions and what is left unspoken.

My experience also compliments my voiceover work. Most recently I have worked as a learning designer in central government, commissioning and developing instructional online training and leadership development programmes.

Whilst my experience can help enrich my interpretations of the written word if needed, I am most excited by the opportunity to work in creative collaboration with authors and producers providing the most effective interpretation for their project, and learning as I go.
